On Thursday, April 16th from 7pm – 9pm, come and enjoy an evening devoted to the art of kapa with a presentation entitled “Ka Hana Kapa.”  Discover one of the most beautiful art forms in the Pacific!

“Ka Hana Kapa” documents the history of kapa in Hawai’i and follows the complex process of Hawaiian kapa making from start to finish. Hawaiian kapa is one of the most beautiful art forms in the Pacific. Ka Hana Kapa is the story of kapa making in Hawai’i, as told by dedicated kapa practitioners and their students, who have given new life to this intricate cultural practice.

The evening will begin with the screening of the newly released documentary film “Ka Hana Kapa” followed by a lively forum with kapa artists from the Volcano community: Pam Barton, Bernice Akamine, and Caren Loebel-Fried.

This event is free, however, donations are appreciated!
