This piece is from the watercolor original created for the Up Close special exhibition at Volcano Art Center gallery. The pueo is a short-eared owl endemic to Hawai’i. They are often considered ‘aumakua, or ancestor spirits. Proceeds from each sale from the Up Close exhibit help the Hawai’i Endangered Bird Conservation Program, managed by San Diego Zoo Global.
