Nene, limited edition prints and open edition posters by Marian Berger.
This piece is from a watercolor original created for the Up Close special exhibition at Volcano Art Center gallery. The nene, commonly known as the Hawaiian goose, is also the state bird and is descended from the Canadian goose. The nene is the world’s rarest goose. At one point, there were only 30 nene left, but they have successfully been brought back from near extinction and they can now be found on Oahu, Kaua’i, Maui, and Hawai’i Island. Proceeds from each sale from the Up Close exhibit help the Hawai’i Endangered Bird Conservation Program, managed by San Diego Zoo Global.
