This piece is from a watercolor original created for the Up Close special exhibition at Volcano Art Center gallery. The ‘akohekohe is a critically endangered Hawaiian honeycreeper, endemic to Maui and the Big Island of Hawai’i. Proceeds from each sale from the Up Close exhibit help the Hawai’i Endangered Bird Conservation Program, managed by San Diego Zoo Global.
