Manu ‘O Ku, Sacred Bird of Ku, print by Gwendolyn O’Connor
A brilliant pair of Fairy Terns (Gygis alba rothchildi),
soar on the updrafts of Pauwalu Point, with the
islet of Mokumana in the distance. Sacred
to the god Ku, these lovely birds are viewed
through a frame of yellow Hau (hibiscus tiliaceus),
purple Pohuehue (Impomoea pescarprae), and the
very rare Olulu (Brighamia insignis). Their appearance means resolution of conflict.
