Pahu, print M26, by Dietrich Varez. “Pahu” is the Hawaiian word for drum. This image depicts a drummer with his instruments. Drums generally were covered with sharkskin. The drum itself was made from a variety of woods and sometimes even coconut (niu) trees were used.
