‘Ahi, print L28, by Dietrich Varez. ‘Ahi is a type of tuna. The word “ahi” means fire in Hawaiian. When caught on a line, the fish will pull with such force and speed that smoke may rise as the line is pulled over the side of the canoe. Hence, the name “ahi.”
