I have loved drawing and the idea of becoming an artist since I was a child growing up in Southern California. I am a self-taught artist enhanced by many workshops given by a variety of accomplished artists over the last 40 years. I first moved to Hawaii in 1974 and it was then that I began painting with oils and acrylics. I also lived in the Pacific Northwest and stayed involved with the arts through local contests, working with a professional designer, painting private and public murals, and even a demonstration on a local television station. Along with painting, I have also enjoyed photography as another artform.
Though my primary profession was a teacher and a registered nurse, I am beginning a professional career now as an artist since my husband and I have moved back to the Big Island of Hawaii. I have a special love of the water and the creatures that dwell in it and began my snorkeling series of fish. I also continue to paint the wonderful landscapes and people of the islands. My surroundings are always an inspiration to me.
