I received a BA in Art from San Francisco State and a Masters in Art Education from California College of Arts and Crafts. After teaching in Oakland California for 31 years, I retired with my husband in Hilo and in 2005 moved to the Volcano area.
After years of working with many different media including weaving, metal arts, jewelry, glass blowing, photography and various crafts, I have chosen photography, to express myself. My photography has evolved from a Nikon SLR using black and white film and printing in a darkroom with chemicals, to a Nikon digital SLR camera and printing with a large format inkjet printer using pigmented inks.
I was the photographer and graphic artist for Pana`ewa Rainforest Zoo & Gardens for 10 years, and also worked with Friends of Hawaii Volcanoes National Park. I love taking photos of Hawaii’s flora and fauna – especially the nene at ‘Ainahou Ranch where I volunteered.
My photos have been published locally and exhibited in numerous shows at the Wailoa Center. One of my photos submitted to the Hawai’i Nei exhibition in 2009 won 1st place for Photography.
