Kamai, Chelsea

Chelsea was born in Newport Beach, California and moved to the Big Island in 2015.  She and her husband greeted the arrival of their first child in March of 2016.  A self-taught acrylic painter, Chelsea finds her inspiration in the wildlife that surrounds her.  The family often leaves the heat of their Keaukaha homestead to drive up to the Hawai’i Volcanoes National Park where they explore the beauty around them and feel a sense of tranquility.  They always leave feeling humbled and refreshed by the spiritual power they find in the Park.  A stay-at-home mom, Chelsea works on her art while her son sleeps.  She considers her time spent painting as therapeutic, when she can clear her mind of the day-to-day activities and let her imagination come to life on canvas.  “There is something about starting out with a blank canvas, staring at it thinking of what it will become.  The possibilities are endless.”
