Vivid colors, evoking the Hawaiian landscape or interpretive painting, depicting the inner landscape are two aspects of the artistic creations of Big Island artist, Diane Renchler.
Born in Los Angeles, California and raised in Las Vegas, Nevada, Diane‘s art career has spanned a 35 year history including teaching, stained glass and clothing designer, batik and mural art. In 1994 she received a Master’s Degree in Expressive Arts Therapy and has used this degree to work with children and adults using art, music and movement.
Inspiration for watercolors came from the early years of working as an airline stewardess where there were layovers and time to paint in many exotic areas of the world, including Hawaii. “I remember always carrying my watercolor sketchbook with me.” Those memories of lush tropical locations eventually drew her back to the islands to continue the long love affair with paint. Her first entry in a juried exhibit was at the Wailoa Center in 1996, and she has since exhibited in numerous shows and galleries throughout the state.
Diane opened her own gallery in 2006, Diane Renchler’s Toulouce Gallery which is located along the Scenic Route of Onomea Bay just 10 minutes north of Hilo, Hawaii.
