Charlene Meyers has lived in Volcano on the island of Hawai`i, since 2001. Her first visit to Hawai`i was in 1975 and a love of the island began at that time. She is a retired caterer, who has always enjoyed photography. Retirement has allowed the time to photograph and enjoy the beauty and natural forces of Hawai`i. During that time a hobby developed into a business. That business is Images of Hawai`i. Charlene’s images have appeared in a wide diversity of publications, including Volcano Watching by Decker, Odyssey, TravelAge, and Sky & Telescope. One of her photographs is a signature image of the Big Island Visitors Bureau. Charlene continues her love of cooking by entertaining friends and volunteering with projects in the Volcano community. She also volunteers in Hawai`i Volcanoes National Park. In the park she leads hikes and provides visitor information, as illustrated in the March/April 2012 Budget Travel magazine. Charlene is part-president of the Rotary Club of Volcano, and the 2011-2013 Assistant District Governor for East Hawai`i.
