Guth, Ann

With a background in geography and geology, Ann Guth was introduced to cartography (drawing maps). While she was working on a map, one of her supervisors said “you have something in your hands.” With that came confidence and greater creativity.

She has lived in Hawai’i off and on for over 50 years, residing on Oahu, Maui, and now the island of Hawai`i. She is an award winning artist in the fields of basket making, quilts, drawing and paintings in oils and watercolors. She uses her art to communicate and tell stories of the areas where she has lived and traveled. Her booklet, “Baskets of St. John, U.S. Virgin Islands” remains a primary source for that art.
