Want to explore the wild side of your mind? Award-winning novelist and longtime Big Island writing teacher Tom Peek will guide you there with his acclaimed workshop “Writing on the Wild Side,” from 9:30 a.m. – 4 p.m. on Saturday, October 21 at Volcano Art Center’s Niaulani Campus in Volcano Village.

Peek’s inspirational techniques and stimulating exercises help students explore their creative minds and unique voices. The workshop is perfect for journal keepers, bloggers, fiction and nonfiction storytellers, poets and anyone with the desire to probe their own thoughts and feelings without censorship.
Students always go home enthused, praising Peek’s workshops as “enlivening,” “revelatory,” and “the best Saturday I’ve spent in a long time!”

In the workshop Peek will also discuss writing for social media. “Facebook, Twitter, blogs and websites have enormous expressive potential,” he said. “But being fully yourself—original and authentic—is often difficult,” says Peek. “I want to help writers learn to tap their wild minds to create unique writing that people actually want to read.”

The workshop is open to all levels and genres. No writing experience is necessary. The class fee is $75 or $65 for VAC members.
