“Kamakahonu, in Kailua-Kona is where Kamehameha lived the last years of his life and he died there in 1819. I used a tee shirt design in pen and ink for the Kamehameha Day Celebration on Coconut Island in 1990 as the basis for a new painting specially created for this exhibit.” – Ken
